"Jones'n" to be the best

New to the line-up of Whirlpool sponsored athletes, Team Jennifer Jones has high hopes of sweeping away the competition in 2002-2003. Jones and her team made an impressive debut at the 2002 Scott Tournament of hearts in their home province of Manitoba. They finished the round-robin qualifiers at the event with an exceptional 2nd place finish. Armed with more determination and passion than ever before, this young Winnipeg rink is ready to take on the best to become the best in the 2002-2003 season…and Whirlpool is thrilled to be supporting this dynamic and capable foursome. Here is more on the individuals who make up this extraordinary team:

Jennifer Jones - Skip
Jennifer is a very focused and organized individual who works extremely hard to achieve her goals on and off the curling ice. Jennifer has skipped most of her curling career and loves the pressure and thrill of throwing the last rock.

Jennifer started curling at a very young age and it was all her parents could do to keep her off of the curling ice. Curling is Jennifer’s true passion and she finds it a great stress relief from the everyday pressures of her career. Jennifer’s longtime boyfriend Scott and her family are tremendous supporters of her curling and she admits she couldn’t do it without them.

Off the ice, Jennifer is a lawyer who practices primarily in the area of corporate and commercial law at the firm Aikins, MacAulay & Thorvaldson in Winnipeg. Her practice keeps her extremely busy but she manages to throw rocks at least once a day during the curling season.

During her spare time you can find Jennifer at the office catching up on work and in the summer on the golf course.

Dana Allerton- Lead
Dana’s love for the game of curling came at a very young age as she spent her winters at the rink watching her parents curl. Dana has a fun-loving personality and her sense of humor keeps the team smiling. She is known for her strong sweeping ability and takes great pride in playing lead and sweeping the last rock.

Dana has recently started a family and enjoys the time she gets to spend with her son, Lachlan. During the curling season she spends many weekends away from her son, so spending as much quality time with Lachlan as she can has become a priority. She couldn’t do it all without the tremendous support of her husband Andrew and her family.

Dana hopes one day her son, Lachlan will be proud of his mother’s accomplishments as she pursues her dreams.

During the summer months Dana relaxes spending time at her family cottages in West Hawk Lake, Manitoba and Kenora, Ontario.

Professionally, Dana is an Early Childhood Educator supervising a School-age Program at Story Book Daycare. Her job keeps her very busy and curling is a wonderful outlet for relieving the stress from her job.

Lynn Fallis-Kurz - Second
Lynn is the eldest on the team and with age she brings important life experiences and perspective to the team. In turn, the youthful enthusiasm and energy of her team members keeps her feeling young and keeps the game exciting.

Professionally, Lynn works a job share position as a Financial Advisor at Scotiabank. Working part-time gives her the opportunity to spend time raising her two young sons Kyle and Colin. Lynn also has two stepsons Tyler and Scott who are always willing to help out and take care of their younger brothers. With four boys playing hockey, baseball, soccer, curling etc. there is always something on the go keeping her very busy off the curling ice.

Lynn loves the excitement curling has brought to her life but looks forward to the summer months where you will find her golfing and spending time with her husband Jim and all her "boys" at their cottage in the beautiful Whiteshell.

Kim Keizer - Third
Kim is the newest member on the team and is really looking forward to an exciting season. Kim exudes confidence and a high level of fitness both of which are important during a long curling event. She is already helping to get her new teammates into shape.

In addition to her passion for curling is her passion for rowing. As soon as the
ice is off Winnipeg’s Red River you will find Kim training at sunrise with her crew
out of the Prairie Fire Rowing Club. Kim finds balance in being active in a variety of sports including being the captain of her Ultimate Frisbee Team and Dragon boat crew. Kim loves all sports primarily for competition and the people she meets.

Kim's career is as a Marketing Coordinator for The Canadian Blood Services in
Winnipeg. Her days are spent overseeing creative donor recruitment
strategies and planning special events.
