The way you aim your club and your body can affect how you swing the club and where the ball goes as a result of that swing.
Follow this 4-step approach for more consistency on every shot.
- View your shot from behind the ball, looking directly at your target and pick out a spot directly in front of the ball on that line
- Walk around, keeping your eye on that spot and aim your club at the spot, holding the club with one hand
- Take your stance parallel to your club face, and then take your grip
- and
Swing the club over your spot and towards your target

 |
This method will allow you to aim your club and body consistently so that you can easily swing the club toward the target, the same direction you want the ball to go!
Mastering the art of playing the ball when you are stuck in the sand can be a difficult task. Here is a checklist of items to consider as you approach this shot:
- Choose a club with enough loft (angle) to clear the bunker. Err on the side of too much loft
- Choose a club with enough loft to extricate your ball from your given lie
- Dig your feet in slightly
- Move your hands down one to two inches on the grip
- Position the ball slightly farther back in your stance
- Contact the ball before the sand
- Swing with confidence
