As part of the day’s activities, each participant in the “A.J. Day” was given the chance to “Beat the Pro” in a distance competition off the fourth tee. Beating A.J. Eathorne proved no easy feat, regardless of how enticing the prize was- a 12-pack of high quality golf balls.
Whirlpool Home Appliances had many of its own employees participating in the event, while other students were corporate climbers seeking to strengthen their golf skills in the hopes of taking clients out of the boardroom and onto the links. As well, a select few participants were the lucky winners of a contest held in Toronto’s commuter daily, Metro News as well as online at Chatelaine.com. “It was great to meet A.J. Eathorne…(and) the instructors were so kind and patient with those of us who were somewhat new to the instructional side of golfing,” said a satisfied Joyce Murray, one of the Chatelaine.com contest winners.
The Volkswagen Links for Women Golf Schools presented by Whirlpool Home Appliances, are one-day clinics aimed at teaching women the necessary skills and etiquette required on the golf course. Schools have run in Calgary, Vancouver, Ottawa, Muskoka and Toronto. With more then 2500 participants across Canada, the program has been a tremendous success.
Among other prizes and giveaways, Whirlpool Home Appliances has automatically entered each participant to win the Revolutionary PolaraTM Refrigerated Range!
